In a future ruled by Zuma, Manuel could tip the balance

Dodgy people are lurking in the upper ranks of the ANC – joined last week by axed national spokesperson Carl Niehaus, who seems unable to pay even his laundry bill without obfuscation. On top of the election pile – which includes Niehaus – is party leader Jacob Zuma.

Zuma may well not have a guilty bone in his body, but he will lead the governing movement into the April 22 election with more than a question mark hanging over his head. In any normal democracy, this would not be an ideal team of people to include on one’s election lists.

NHFC to scale up operations

The National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC) plans to raise about R1.6 billion in its next financial year and a total of about R5 billion over the next three years to increase the scale of its operations.

Samson Moraba, the NHFC chief executive, said on Friday that a bond issue was the most likely route it would take in raising these funds.
