New car sales show rate hike dents

Pretoria – New car sales last month fell 10 percent to 31 490 units compared with May last year, as the market showed further signs of a slowdown. Sales of new commercial vehicles, however, continued to grow strongly.

The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA (Naamsa) referred to the year-on-year sales decline as “further consolidation”.
